Has he made a good movie since TTRL?

The Thin Red Line? I don't think so.

reply

Yes, he made.

reply

Nope.

reply

"Nope! Look at me.. It's even worst." (Man, it's a really good!)

reply

The tree of life didn't get that many bad reviews. He has been doing alot of experimental movies.

reply

You thought The Thin Red Line was good? That was a huge piece of crap and only pretentious idiots find that film wasnt anything but Malick trying to be artsy for artsy sake. No way you could convince me otherwise.

reply

Why would anybody want to convince you otherwise, idiot. Keep having your opinions and shouting then at others.

reply

Tree of life

reply

In my book, they're all good or great or, with "The Tree of Life", transcend the very essence of cinema itself.

1. "The Tree of Life"
2. "The Thin Red Line"
3. "Days of Heaven"
4. "Knight of Cups"
5. "To the Wonder"
6. "The New World"
7. "Badlands"

reply

You would put his best film last? I don't understand your taste my friend.

reply

lol badlands is his masterpiece.

reply

Every single one was complete trash. You are just sheep following in line with some random critic that loves Malick for art's sake.

Bahhhh.

reply

I couldn't care less what critics think of Malick, I like what I like.

For example, I love badlands and I hated to the wonder.

The essence of cinema is moving pictures. How's this any different?

reply

Tree of Life. Last 2 films were dissapointing IMO.

reply

The Thin Red Line wasn't good, either. After "Badlands" and "Days of Heaven", he took a lot of time off and then sucked.
Only "Tree of Life" had some good things in it, but still had a lot of that "let's experiment with a different way of story telling" malarky.

The last paragraph, written by a David Lynch fan I assume, doesn't make any sense. Lynch and Malick have more in common than what most people think. They're always defying the concept of storytelling and that's great, because films with a classic narrative are being produced in the thousands a year.
I celebrate directors like Malick, Lynch, Weerasethakul and Godard, that are always innovating with their work.

reply

New World is absurdly underrated.. It's the perfect blend of stylistic approach.
