Does the Bale character ever speak to anyone?

Bale's character either rarely speaks, or perhaps never? He has voiceover, of course, sometimes consisting of things that were once spoken to a character. But is there one scene where Bale simply talks to someone? If not, this is obviously not incidental or accidental, and could go a long way in understanding some of the themes/dynamics of the film.

Yes, he speaks on a couple of occasions. The ones I can think of are:

1) At the diner, he asks the woman with the pink wig where she lives so he can write her a letter.
2) At the lavish house party, Frieda Pinto's character asks him what his name is and he says "Rick"
3) Also at the party, a woman asks him if he likes her painted nails and he says "Yes, very well done."
4) At the strip club, he has some back and forth conversation with the woman he meets there.

That's about all I can think of though!

He shouts at his brother for blowing up on their father near the end of the film, too, doesn't he? So yeah, at least five instances of Rick talking.

He says more than Affleck does in To the Wonder, I'm pretty sure.

LOL..that's for sure.
