never understood the Murr marrying Sal's sister punishment

I mean it was all "fake" (anulled) and everyone was in on it... Why did it matter?

Not like Murr banged the hell out of her for a week...

Sal is WAY over possessive of his sister.. its kind of creepy.

It was to get revenge on Sal after he made Murr still go along with the skydiving punishment.

Yeah, I agree it didn't make that much sense.

That said, some ethnic groups are very protective of their sisters (check out Scarface or The Godfather). Sal seems to be as well. So it must have been meant to tap into that.

I saw on one of the Inside Joke shows that Murr said something along the lines of now he can say he was Sal's first brother in law/Sal's sister's first husband. If you watch the show a lot (I do), you'll see that Murr and Sal are always at each other. I don't doubt that they are friends, but I think they are like bickering siblings almost. Sal's made comments how he doesn't call Murr because Murr "doesn't add anything to his life". Of course, they all laugh it up, but there are plenty of clips of the two of them bickering and Joe and Q laughing about it.
