shareI don't care, really. I've been reading subtitles all my life, so I don't care. I'll be reading subtitles for the Spanish scenes, as well as the English scenes. In Sweden we have subtitles for every show, except the shows in Swedish (in some cases there are subtitles for them as well).
If someone has a problem reading subtitles AND staying focused on the scenery, you're inhuman. It's easy.

I have watched a handful of fully subtitled films, and I always have to watch them twice, because I just can't multitask reading the dialogue and watching the visuals. Reading subtitles may come naturally to your culture, but since America's primary language is English, with 95% of films fully in english with no subtitles in them at all, makes it a challenge for most Americans, me included. But, films like this one, with some subtitles but mostly in english (The movie is confirmed to be split as 35% in the past, the rest in the present), I handle pretty well, and I don't know why. I'm sure I can train myself to properly experience fully subtitle films, but I just don't for some reason, I don't know why. It's not inhuman, it's just cultural differences.
With all that said though, I highly respect the director for making that choice (and I applaud the studio for allowing it), instead of making it all english like in the games. It's one change I approve. share

I am American and I have no prob reading subs, just got done with season 2 of Gomrrah for example. So stop making us look bad. share
Thank you for this reply! I hate those arguments that involve a "primary language" excuse to keep you away from learning a second language... And when people bring their opinions to "most Americans", putting everybody in the same bag without hesitation.
Many people do okay with subtitled movies. If you cannot cope with it, that is fine, but do not think "most of the people" have the same issue as you do.
I do not care if the movie has many scenes subtitlted to English because they are speaking in spanish. I know both languages pretty well (spanish being my mother tongue and having learnt english in part by READING SUBTITLES).
Exactly, but personally i think i know where they are coming from, but reading subtitles wouldn't be necessarily as challenging with only a third of the movie set in the past. Honestly, i don't mind this since i'm a native Spanish speaker, and like the guy above me, learned English in part by subtitles.
