Setting for the sequel

if we are to follow the trend, it probably won't be a setting covered by any of the games.
IMO it should be hundred years war.
its gritty, the battle scenes would look like game of thrones, and there's a vast, interesting political background struggle going on.
perhaps the main character assassin is a french royal guard and he has to stop a huge english army from crossing the channel.

alternatively i'd love to see a sequel in which fassbender assassin's son or grandson has to go to the new world with cortez and fight aztecs

I doubt they go back in time though and technically a portable game called Assassin's Creed: Discovery is set during 1490s Spain where Ezio goes to Spain to help the Spanish Brotherhood. Also, 1 movie is not enough to make a trend I could just as easily say that the trend is same time period as a game (1490s has it at the back end of ACII) but set in a different country (Spain and not Italy) with as much evidence as you have.

I would bet if they change ancestors between movies that they go forward a couple of centuries to at least the 1600-1700s and get it out of Spain for something different like they did with the first 3 main games (not counting Ezio spin-offs).

I hope however will be directing aims a little higher than to make it/the battle sequences look like GoT. It deserves its own vibe.

I think Nazi Germany could make for a great setting for an AC movie. I imagine tired men in gray costumes & snowy city streets. Maybe it could be a bit more raw than what we've seen before. Get a little bit of dread in there. Nice. Templars on both sides of the conflict. The war between them and the assassins being more underground, more guerilla.

How does that sound?

Aztecs would be awesome!
