Ubisoft Announces Two Books to Accompany Assassin's Creed Film
Ubisoft today announced two new books in the works that will be published alongside the Assassin's Creed movie - out in theaters on December 21. Both of these books are meant to help fans of the Assassin's Creed series get as much out of the upcoming film as possible.
Assassin's Creed: The Official Film Tie-In
"Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day."
Assassin’s Creed Into the Animus – Official Movie Artbook
"This special behind-the-scenes book chronicles the making of 'Assassin’s Creed' in vivid detail, from the incredible design of fifteenth-century Spain to the challenge of recreating iconic characters and places, such as Abstergo Industries, in an entirely new medium. Packed with exclusive art and stunning unit photography, the book also showcases the incredible fight and parkour choreography that has become a beloved staple of the franchise, as well as interviews with the costume, set designers and film stars Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard."
Fans should also keep in mind that Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection comes out November 15. The Ezio Collection combines (in this writer's opinion) the three best Assassin's Creed games in the franchise - Assassin's Creed II, Brotherhood, and Revelations - into a single, must-own collection. The collection comes packaged with every bit of DLC that came out for all three games right out of the box.
While Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) will be vying for our hearts on the big screen in December, I don't think that the Assassin's Creed universe will ever know a more lovable protagonist than Ezio Auditore. If you're up for pitting the two heroes against each other for your favor, remember that when you purchase Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection, you'll get a free movie ticket to go see Assassin's Creed as long as that movie ticket doesn't exceed a value of $8 (in other words, you're going to a matinee).
You may also remember from a comicbook article in September that Titan Comics will be releasing a new series of Assassin's Creed comics starting in February. Per Matthew Mueller's report, "Fans of Assassin's Creed Unity, Assassin's Creed Rogue, and Assassin's Creed Syndicate will be excited to learn that the new ongoing series will pick up the Phoenix Project plot from those games, which revolved around the templars getting ahold of ancient DNA. The book will also bring in fan favorites from all over the Assassin's Creed universe, including Juhani Otso Berg, Galina Voronina, Kiyoshi Takakura, Arend Schut, Charlotte De La Cruz, and Black Cross."
