Do you think we'll get proper characters?

I am hoping for a story that pulls me in emotionally so that I care about the awesome stuff onscreen. So far the trialers haven't sold that, but I believe Fox is in charge of cutting the trailers where it's really Ubisoft and the actual filmmakers who are in creative control.

What do you think, will we get proper characters with arcs, emotions and all that good stuff? Or will it be another 'turn your brain off and enjoy the ride' type of movie?

We can definitely expect that from Fassbender, Marion, and Gleeson.

It depends on the script. Callum Lynch, (Michael Fassbender's character) should have a proper character arc but there's also a lot of backstory and lore from the games that when included in the movie, could take away the some time that could be used for character development, so they need to get the balance right. The problem is that previously filmmakers seem of had trouble with including proper character development in movies based on computer games and I don't know why, so I'm cautiously optimistic.
