Run Time Officially Confirmed

115minutes.

The movie is officially dead. 1:55 running time for this kind of movie + very late embargo = another horrible video-game movie. They never learn.

reply

Running time is just fine. Movie is still alive and kickin.

reply

Wooow, that's a twist! How will they handle historical plot, with 35%?

reply

That's actually the first thing which disappoints me on this movie. I hoped for a way longer film. Why they didn't make it 140 minutes like was reported before? It's a shame... Such a story can be barely told in 115 minutes.

Nolan, I love you forever!

reply

115 min is only a slightl dissapointment. Movie still is gonna be one epic ride.

reply

Yes, nothing so critical about that, but still...

Nolan, I love you forever!

reply

Kurzel's films are usually right under 2 hours

reply

Yes, but Assassin's Creed could be just the right movie to exceed this mark. Christopher Nolan's Following, Memento and Insomnia was all under 2 hours, until he exceeded it by making Batman Begins 2 hours and 20 minutes long. I hoped for the same path for Kurzel. Because that's the runtime such a big stories needs. Especially Assassin's Creed, which is more than big. I hope the film will look and feel complete, unlike Warcraft which was ended like during the middle of an action.

Nolan, I love you forever!

Boxofficemojo has it at 140 minutes?

reply

Fandango does the same.

As I know it's the biggest ticket-buy service out there, so it's hard to believe that they're listing the wrong runtime. As well as biggest box-office tracking site.

Maybe the hope is still there?

Nolan, I love you forever!

reply

They could revise it but who knows

reply

Maybe it's DLC-free version?

Nolan, I love you forever!

reply

Really? Let's cut out all the background info that explains the story to general audiences and let's just get to the good stuff. Earlier, Justin Kurzel said that the movie runtime would be 2 hours and 20 minutes or something. So, it almost looks like the history of what happened to Warcraft is repeating itself. Good luck in being the first great video game movie, I hoped that the critic reviews would be good in this one but my hope is deflating. At least the trailers look cool.

reply

Hm when did he say?

If you look back at the forum threads on this board, gstards posted a thread about 2 months ago or so that suggested that the full version of the movie is 140 minutes and I confirmed this with a number of news articles. What I'm saying is that cutting the movie down to under 2 hours is something that worries me because part of the reason why Warcraft was a bit of a misfire and a bit confusing is because the studio cut 40 minutes off it's runtime and even Duncan Jones wasn't happy with the final result.

What I don't understand in this case is that Justin Kurzel had much more freedom on the movie than Duncan Jones had on Warcraft and my understanding was that 20th Century Fox was only the distributor and would not be able to have much of a say on the movie, unlike Universal. My guess is that 20th Century Fox asked them as the distributor to cut down the runtime so that it can have more showings in theatres, since most of their movies are under 2 hours and they've done it before.

What might work in the movie's favour though is that Michael Fassbender is one of the producers as well as starring in the film and someone who liked the concept, while most of the other producers seem to work for Ubisoft's new film studio, so they might have say in what is left in the finished theatrical version and what get's cut. So, all hope is not lost yet.

IT WAS NEVER SAY BY KURZEL OR OTHERS OFFICIAL THAT THE MOVIE WILL BE 140 MINUTES. it was just speculation on 1 website (who sold tickets) who has the movie in this runtime. So stop create story for nothing

reply

Jeez, calm down. I was only reciting what I understood. Also, when I heard that it could be 140 minutes long, I was actually hoping that it would be true because it could give more time to explain the lore to people who don't know anything about the games.

reply

All I want to say about this is...... It's not the size that counts, it's how you use it

reply

LOL I see what you did but yeah I wouldn't be too worried

reply

This runtime was provided by the provincial government (same idea as a state in the US) of Alberta, Canada. The conflict of runtimes is confusing to say the least but this was the runtime of the copy the government was given for review so I doubt it is wrong.

reply

Why does runtime matter?

1. BVS 2. TWS 3. Avengers

I honestly dont think it matters, some of my favorite movies that have come out recently like 10 Cloverfield Lane are shorter than Assassin's Creed and they end up being very well done since they can tell their story very concisely and without a lot of filler that we end up seeing in these long superhero movies like Civil War.

P.S. Thanks for the reply

Now that is worrying. The runtime of half an hour is fine for Adam Sandler's comedies, direct-to-video action movies and such, but it's definitely not enough to tell a proper Assassins Creed story. I guess this won't be "The Video Game Movie" we were hoping for.
