The editing seems rushed, but I'm assuming that was done to present it as a promo clip, similar to what they did with the Warcraft clips.

No, I don't think so, that's an actual clip from the movie, not a trailer cut. What worries me about that clip is the short cut's to the present day, even directly before he makes the jump, because it kind of breaks the immersion in the historical period which is part of the appeal of the games. We'll have to wait until the movie comes out or we see the first reviews to find out how it turns out though.

I agree that those shots of the Animus feel like interruptions. Let's hope the real thing somehow manages it better.

No, the scene was cut around a lot. It's noticeable when referencing older featurettes and trailers.
