I got rather attached to Maria(Ariane Labed) - they nailed the cast for an assassiness! She's a natural drama actress and it turns out she's an action actress too. (and her momentary smile following the arrow ricochet - so touching)
Hopefully an extended film release comes with more screen time of her.
Yeah, I got really attached to her. She's super awesome! Hopefully there will be more of her if there is a director's cut.
I know there wasn't much character development, but I also liked Moussa, Nathan, Lin and Emir a lot. Despite such limited screen time, I found them to be quite memorable. Apparently costumes were actually made for each of their ancestor, so hopefully we'll get to see that too.
What I didn't get is why couldn't they cast the same actors for assassins from the past and from the present. Fassbender looked like his ancestor, so why couldn't the other assassins be the same? It would take very minor changes to the script to have the present assassins be the descendents from the same assassins that worked with Aguilar.
Not a bad idea, but I guess they thought it would be cooler to have them each be a descendant of a character from the games. Moussa's ancestor is Baptiste from ACIII: Liberation, Lin's is Shao Jun from Embers & Chronicles: China, and Emir's apparently is Yusuf from Revelations. Not sure who Nathan's is.
Oh, I didn't know this, since I hardly played Assassin's creed for a few hours and it was a long time ago. That actually makes sense, as long as you are a gamer and have this knowledge.
I agree, it would've been nice to have had that link to associate the past assassins with their future descendants but I think they wanted to show that an ancestor and a descendant not only don't have to look alike, they may also be of different ethnicities hence despite Spaniard assassins their descendants could be East Asian or Black.
