For people who never played the game - question

What did you think of it?

Was it explained right? I could barely stand all the exposition, but, I want to know how you felt about it if you knew nothing about the universe.

Please and thank you.

reply

Well, its not bad because of exposition. Its bad because of the absurd story, horrbile action scenes, taking itself way too serious, being bland, boring characters and overall zero excitement fun thrill drama or anything else. An empty shell of a movie with nothing of value for the audience.

reply

Well, it's a movie based on a video game. Those don't have a reputation of being good story wise.

I went to watch parkour. There wasn't much of that. I didn't hate the action scenes. I liked that they were choreographed the same way as in the same - as in - I used to do that in my living room!

Did you play the games @WalterWheyt?

reply

I watched a short youtube plot summary of the games before watching the movie but it was still too complicated.

The Apple being a metal ball was strange. After the Templars got it, it wasn't clear how they were going to use it. Just hold it up and it lights up? Then what?

Modern day folks getting the metal ball, then what?

The Leap of Faith, how'd that work?

Would've liked to see more on the history of the Creed itself since it was entirely fictional as opposed to the Templars, though they were dissolved in 1312.

Why didn't any of the police/guards have guns/stun guns/tasers/anything modern?

Why were all the other inmates still there? Hadn't gotten all their genetic memories yet?

reply

I'm a gamer but have never played any Assassin's Creed game.
I thought the story made very little sense, was confusing and just silly too.

They wanted to eradicate violence... by obtaining an apple... which contained free will in it... and destroy the assassin brotherhood? Whaaa?

I thought it made absolutely no sense (why the hell would there be DNA for lack of free will trapped in the epitomic symbol of free will? and even if there was DNA in it, how were they going to do anything with it?), and I was impressed by how boring they were able to make action scenes. That latter is director talent, I haven't seen such boring action scenes since Outcast with Nicolas Cage.
