Why No Marsters?

He always talked about being part of the Shakespeare readings at Joss' house. It sure isn't like his dance card is all that full, according to his listing. And he's a talented actor who has experience doing Shakespeare. So, in a cast of Whedon faves, why didn't Marsters get cast?

Just because his acting dance card isn't full doesn't mean he's not doing other things. Maybe he had a concert across the country or something. The filming window for MAAN was pretty narrow.

He's been filming a movie called Dragon Master recently, touring with his band and doing the con circuit. Also this was filmed during the middle of Joss filming Avengers. Make that as you will.

Trust me, James will be fine and get his chance to do the Bard one of these days.

Oh, for Pete's sake. He's not gonna wriggle out of any possible contract he's in to do freakin' Shakespeare with freakin' Joss Whedon? Dragon Master? Really?

Anthony Stewart Head was originally tapped to play Leonato, but had a scheduling conflict. And it would have been really unprofessional for Marsters to "wriggle out" of a previous engagement, especially if he was in the middle of something during the aforementioned very narrow filming window.

That is a shame. Head would have been perfect as Leonato.

Also tragic Marsters couldn't do a role. I would have liked to see him do Don John.

Now here would have been a good Benedick. I am very curious to know why he was passed over for Denisoff.

I doubt that he was interested. James said numerous times that he didn't like Shakespeare's comedic plays. And if I remember correctly, on one panel Joss said that during the Shakespeare readings James always wanted to do Macbeth.
