I miss Sarah Michelle Gellar in this film

She's a great actress and I'm sure Joss Whedon knows she's a great actress and I don't care if she did not join the Shakespeare book club he said she didn't.

This girl is seriously missed in good films such as this one.

She's not a girl, she is 35 years old. Bit of a shocker, right?

And I would actually watch the film before passing judgement on the casting choices. SMG is great as a spoiled bitch (Cruel Intentions, Scooby) but she has never been good at romance.

reply

Oh of course she has never been good at romance, Buffy is not enough to prove that yeah you're so right. If HOLLYWOOD is incapable of seeing her only as a spoiled bitch and nothing else, they have a serious problem.

But Joss Whedon showed the world the real, great actress she is.

I think there may still be some tension from the way things were left when Buffy ended.

The only Abnormality is the incapacity to love

Yeah I've read that she is not beloved. Not like Fred.

SMG can CAN be a good actress.. but A) she was probably BUSY.. She has a new sitcom starting next Monday with Robin Williams

and B). I don't think the movie would be the same (haven't watched it yet, going to in just a bit) without the connection that MOST JOSS fans had for the characters of Fred and Wesley on "Angel".. now if he had gotten James Marsters or David Boreanaz (hope I didn't mangle their names too badly), then it would have made sense.. but with Denisof, then it makes sense to pair him with Acker and the Whedon nerds rejoiceth. :)

Plus honestly.. between the two, I would rather see Amy Acker.. or even Jewel Staite to SMG just for the fact they sadly do NOT get as much love and are in my mind JUST as talented and fun to watch but haven't really gotten the shot. Acker especially with her transition from Fred to Illyria in Angel or her character of Dr. Saunders in "Dollhouse" when we find out..she wasn't always "Dr. Saunders".

So I can say I am very happy with Acker in the film. I am a bit disappointed that Head wasn't available for the role, as I think he's a wonderful actor as well and I miss seeing him pop up..But it looks to have an amazing cast.. and speaking of, I think I am going to go pop some popcorn and start watching it.

Agreed. I think Amy Acker is 10 times the actress that SMG is. I always watched Buffy for the humor and the rest of the cast. It was strange, but I couldn't have cared less what happened to the title character.

On the other hand, I heard that the actress who eventually portrayed Amy(The Witch becomes Rat) was a close second to get the role of Buffy. I really liked that actress. I think I actually would have liked the show more if she had ended up playing Buffy rather than SMG.

There's no love lost between Joss and SMG. She was in one shot of Dr. Horrible but I don't think Joss would relish working with her intensely again.

I've always felt that SMG and Eliza Dushku have (I'll try to say this gently) the least range of all the actors JW has worked with. They were typecast and did well in the parts assigned by JW but seem incapable of breaking out into other other roles. Why he picked them as leads? Who knows.
