Only Whedon would put Alexis and Amy together again

LOL when I saw the trailer, I thought I was watching a Fred and Wesley reunion.

reply

Possibly, but I thought both actors were excellent in their roles and I didn't even recognise Amy Acker as Fred. As for Alexis, I didn't find out until quite recently that he's American, I genuinely thought he was English - very good job on the posh accent in Angel and Buffy. Thoroughly enjoyed the film and their performances in it.

I first saw Denisof as Lord John Rossendale in the Sharpe series. Definitely thought he was a Brit.

reply

Oh, yes, I'd forgotten he was in Sharpe! Loved that series.

reply

Yeah, I was convinced he was English as well after Sharpe, Buffy and Angel. Then I saw part of an episode of 'Bugs' where he played an American and I thought he did a great American accent.
It was only a while later, when I was looking up Dollhouse info on IMDB, that I was shocked to see he actually is American.

reply

Aly mentions in this interview that he has spent lots of time there, most of his life! :p

I like to think Joss is making up for the depressing story that was Fred and Wesley at the end of the series. He owes it to us to have them happily together! ;)

reply

Yes, Fred and Wesley got their happy ending.

reply

Joss even says that in the commentary.

One of the few good things about this crappy film was seeing Amy and Alexis together again but I will admit that he sounds so different talking in his Native American accent.

reply

That was actually one of MANY good things about the film.

Yes, Fred and Wesley got their happy ending.

I loved the way Amy and Alexis brought their preexisting onscreen chemistry to the table in this one!

Ironically enough, I wrote a fanfiction that takes place immediately after the end of the Angel series finale where Illyria, in her grief over Wesley's death, connects with Fred's soul which is still trapped within her own body. The two minds and souls merge into one, but which is so overcome with grief that she becomes suicidal. My title for it, in reference to Romeo and Juliet, is Shakepeare Be Damned! (Not to worry, just before Fred/Illyria tries to kill herself, a bunch of slayers show up with Dawn Summers as their watcher; Fred/Illyria, able to sense Dawn's "Key" energy, figures out how to use it to bring Wesley back, although not without complications.)

reply

If his accent is that good, he should try to become the next doctor who.

reply

There's a little bit of me still holding out for John Simm to become the next Dr Who, but I guess that won't happen as he played the Master so brilliantly. But I'm sure that, with some very creative writing, it's possible. Having said that, Alexis would be a great Doctor.
