Copied Concept... Been Done Before- right?

Been Done Before- Right? Romeo & Juliet w/ Dicaprio and Clair Danes- in Modern Setting?...

reply

Yep. And Hamlet with Ethan Hawke.

What's the point?

Can't stop the signal.

reply

This is way better than Romeo and Juliet, though. Never been a fan of that story.

There's also a Coriolanus (2011) and Macbeth (2006) in modern settings. As Preach asks, what's your point?

Point Is...If You Take On Anything In Life... You can Choose to be:
Original. - Or. - Unoriginal
Innovate. - Or. - Imitate
Build Your Own ideas -Or- Copy Other's Work
And that was a comment on how some want to be rewarded- or being 'creative' yet not willing to put forth the effort. Liking (or not) the movie is good, fine, whatever- my comment was that the theme, or template, was someone else's creative design- and as added information I'm aware of- it has been done before- that's all...

So you're saying that since West Side Story (1961) was an adaptation of Romeo and Juliet set in modern times, Romeo + Juliet (1996) is a copy of the work of others and an example of someone wanting to be rewarded for being "creative" yet unwilling to put forth the effort. The "theme, or template, was someone else's creative design".
Got it.

Yes, and even Shakespeare copied others' templates and stories. How far back does someone have to go to be all those things on the right hand column?

Let's be bad guys.
