The first-time writer/director talks about how he worked with the actor to show a different side of himself onscreen, shooting in a real hospital that had been shut down by Hurricane Katrina and how the meaning of the film's changed for him:

Eric Heisserer is a very nice guy and if you can find him on one of the many social sites around the internet, he usually responds to messages. He doesn't have a lengthy resume in regards to movie production, and he's already off to a pretty solid start.
