This really reminded me of Up In The Air.

Both deal with a character struggling with the type of person he wants to be. Promised Land was a really good watch but I felt it lacked balls when it came to the final third. Unlike Up In The Air which actually had the balls to keep Clooney's character exactly how he began the Film, Promised Land had to go the route of redemption for Damon's character. I think it would have made for a much more interesting character piece if Damon's character just simply reverted to his old ways and decided that it wasn't time for change.

Nice performance from Damon but the real star was Hal Holbrook, the guy is just a class act.
