Did she...

I didn't get any impression that she did although there was an extra urn on the mantlepiece (I missed this detail) but I think he just died - take a look at https://fugitives.com/the-artifice-girl-ending-explained-2022-sci-fi-film-franklin-ritch/ -

I just watched this and I think the AI girl was suddenly confronted with the future when the record ended. Can they continue on without us? Or something like that. Really thought-provoking flick.

I know it's been a long time since you posted but I just now saw the movie. Thank you for this insight. I love movies like this but I'm weak on figuring things out!

Didn't seem like it, but the film..... was not great.
An AI - with her access to info and her perpetual ability to advance - would sound (intellectually)/act a lot 'smarter' than what we saw in the end - after 80 years of development.

Essentially - as far as AI development realism is concerned, this film should get an F. Though, I suppose I can understand the message the film tried to convey to the viewers - that AI would perpetuate human ideals long after humanity is gone - our creation, our idea, our 'child'. I dunno if I fully agree with that message - though at least in part, it could be true.
