so maybe not all the theories are horse *beep* and maybe .........THE SHINING wasn't just another horror . Kubrick certainly was interested in history

I have no doubt Kubrick peppered the film with hidden symbolism. However I don't think there was a grandiose theme other than the destruction of the family. And people who have worked on the film have pretty much confirmed that.
