Cut Scenes

Thought it was funny how several of the scenes which were over-analysed in this film were scenes that Stanley Kubrick quite happily cut from the European release - his preferred version. They obviously contained no important hidden meanings whatsoever.

I am curious, as I've not seen the European cut, to which scenes you are referring? I would be interested to know what he eliminated from the favored version.

Regarding differences between cuts see here

And it's true, I remember some of the supposedly "intentional" continuity errors being eliminated in the international cut. Like the missing sticker on the door, in the Torrance family's home.

International cut is better imo. Cleaner and more to the point.

I've never even noticed an alternate versions section. Thanks tons! Very interesting.

Yeah that's how good IMDB contributors are. At least amongst the more important films, if there's different cuts you'll quite often find some insights on the "alternate versions" page.

That's wonderful! Years of nonstop reading trivia/message boards and contributing opinions and I learn something new!

reply

Hahaha, lol @ "years of nonstop".

But true, IMDB can actually be useful on occasion. Guess it's really thanks to contributors though. Lots of nice people out there, spending their time on making improvements to the site.
