To anyone defending Kubrick ...

Remember defending him for his works is defending misogyny. He was quite vocal in his works and his personal (as well as his professional) circles to deem women as lesser creatures. He glorified rape and found pleasure in degradation of women in all ways and for always. More was discovered after his death when his friends came clean about his rantings after his death. He truly hated women to his core. He lost many colleagues and friends for it. To defend this man, is to defend his actions and beliefs, and he was not a good human.

Look closely at his body of work, and his dearest friends, and those who stuck with him over the course of his life. See who Was there after his death. You will see who did not stand by him, and can connect the dots for yourself. Ask anyone you know personally inside the entertainment business who is not involved with him any longer, they can tell you why. Ask anyone formerly involved with Tom Cruise who cut ties with him when the two men were close, that will tell you more than enough. I cannot tell you more than that, you must do the research for your self. This business holds many secrets, but I assure you these are not simply rumors.

Methinks you got the wrong board.
This is a board for a movie about assinine conspiracy theories in The Shining.
Though you do seem like you would fit in perfectly with the fools in the movie.

Also...this is what happens when they don't monitor the computers in the special ed class...one of the students gets on and treats us to a wonderful thread such as this.

Also again....why can't you tell us more?
Will the Illuminati kill you or something?

I could care less what kind of man Kubrick was...we were never going to share a milkshake.
But the dude made movies like a boss.

Posts like this tickle me.
Sounds like rants of a paranoid schizophrenic.

Why? Because THEY will come get me.

Lie still. I've never done this before; and there will
be blood.

Pretty sure Kubrick cared very much about women. Enough to make several films about how women are treated by society. Characters like Lolita, Lady Lyndon or Alice Harford tell me that he's concerned by misogyny and women who are objectified, not a misogynist himself.

reply

yeah ews kind of throws misogny out the window. and because characters are misoginists or racist does not reflect the attitude of either writer or director. it's like sayin qt hates blacks cause he writes the n. word a lot.

i dunno. anyone watch the behind the scenes doc (filmed by kubricks wife, i believe) where he's being a total a hole to shelly duval? i believe "for the benefit of here character."

i think its on the first dvds of the shining kubrick collection.

reply

that's not misogyny. that's an actor being pushed to achieve the performance required. that's what directors do.

reply

It was his daughter Vivian, then 17 years of age and now locked into Scientology, for some good 10 years.

The scene in the doc doesn't tell the real story I believe. It's one where costly machinery was involved and where Duval missed her showtime. Naturally, Kubrick was a little pissed.

No, rumor has it that Kubrick consistently nitpicked on her and that he encouraged all other team members to do the same. Mind you, over a principal photography period of almost a year. That's bullying, by today's standards.
