'The Timberline Hotel doesn't really have a room 217'

So says one of the nuttier presenters, in order to imply some deeper meaning to the choice of the number 237. He claims that the official explanation is untrue (that the number was changed so guests wouldn't be spooked by staying in the "haunted" room, as the hotel did not have a room 237 but did have a room 217), and that if you contact the hotel, they'll tell you that there isn't and has never been a room 217 at the hotel. Well, I called his bluff, and got this little message back from the Timberline:

Thank you for your interest in Timberline Lodge.

The exterior of the building and the snow cat ride were used in The Shining. We have a room 217 it is just a standard room with two beds. We do not have a 237. People often ask for room 237.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

So remember kids, don't blatantly lie about things that the viewer can actually check out with the utmost ease.

Wasn't that the same guy who claimed the moon landings were faked? And then alter he started talking about how the government is after him? I think he's a little off his rocker.

The whackadoodle who made that comment about the Timberline Hotel not having a Room 217 got his facts messed up. It was the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado that asked fir the room number change. I visited it two years ago and heard the whole story.

"The Minotaur ", "The Erect Penis" "Kubrick in the Clouds " are just some of the many crazy theories out there (don't get me going on the Fake Moon "theory which us related to Room 237.

I did find the Red VW in the crash that Hallorhan sees as a direct FU to King as being possible.

Btw I read the book a few times and saw the movie when it first came out. It was a major disappointment and remains so to this day, at least for me.

Yeah I love how he then continues that 237 is the number of the studio they filmed the moonlanding in, but simply doesn't elaborate on that (surely there must be a studio 237 somewhere).
