Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar

Fun seeing how people can come up with different viewpoints but don't take it seriously

About as fun as listening to my lady describe the 'crazy' dream she had last night

I love listening to this stuff and since Kubrick is dead he can never reveal what he meant and if there even is a double meaning. The same thing happened with the movie Halloween where everybody theorized that Myers was killing all those kids because the were unchristian and so the virgin lives (which was then used in a lot of slasher) while Carpenter later revealed he just needed the kids to be distracted (and having sex/drugs etc is what teens do). This is also probably why David Lynch never does commentaries and such, 'cos as long as he doesn't say his double meaning, the viewer might have a better one (which makes Lynch (appear) even more brilliant). Even though some of his stuff, we know, was purely by accident (like Bob in twin peaks).

None of these wackos never really said anything. They throw out these wacky ass theories and never expand upon them. "This can of goods with a Indian on it says the film is about the genocide of Native Americans." Ok bud, how so? You have my attention. Nope, he doesn't say how it pertains to his stupid theory, just lays out the groundwork.

"THIS IS ABOUT THE HOLOCAUST CUZ OF GERMAN TYPEWRITER!!!! DUR!" Ok, explain! Nope, never an explanation for that one either.

"The skier poster in the game room is a Minotaur!" Um, no. It doesn't resemble a Minotaur in the slightest. This really cracked me up because she kept going on about something that wasn't there.

It reminds me an anecdote I heard from someone who was on a tour at an art museum. The tour guide was launching into an analysis of the meaning of a dark spot on an abstract painting until the dark spot flew away.
