Those continuity errors were weird

What possible reason would there be for chair and dopey sticker to be there one minute and not the next? Why remove or place one sticker on a door?

Movies are often shot way out of sequence. The scenes involved a child actor who is not legally allowed to work quite as many hours as his adult counterparts. The director was notorious for shooting dozens of takes for even the most mundane pieces. I just heard an anecdote by Mark Hamill about how Scatman Crothers was miffed about doing 87 takes for a bit that involved him just getting out of a car and crossing a street to a phone booth. The Shining shot for 46 weeks just 8 weeks short of a full year. Most movies shoot 3 months.

Add it all up and it's very likely the two shots were filmed days, maybe even months apart. Lots of stuff going on the meanwhile. Stickers fall off and have to be replaced. After a while nobody really remembers what the sticker arrangement was in the scene they shot several weeks back.

Pretty sure they could go back and look at what was filmed previously, no? Or was a monitor not available back in the archaic days of 1979/80?

Why would they hire script supervisors if a monitor could handle continuity errors for free?
