No Room 217?

Why is there such a blatant lie in this that the Timberline Lodge has no room 217? They do. Was he referring to the Stanley Hotel?

The Standley Hotel obviously has a room 217, it's the room Stephen King stayed in when he was inspired to write it.

It is part of the problem with this movie. You want to broadcast some whacko theory then fine, but at some pint there should be an acknowledgement that the theorist is just making up 'facts' and that something he is claiming is a total lie. I hated a lot about this film but that drove me nuts more than anything else.

I've stayed in Room 217 of the Stanley (but I didn't get laid by a ghost who turned into a bloated old woman). It didn't sound right that there is no room 217 at the Timberline. It's also possible if Kubrick had been planning to film in the Stanley that they asked him to change it early in the script process. Besides, only the exteriors were filmed at the Timberline, and most people think that it is actually the Stanley, so both hotels had an interest in asking him not to use an actual room number,

And you know if the Stephen King adaptation "1408" had been more successful that would have screwed over every hotel in New York City.
