I think that's who it was. It became supremely annoying, and undermined anything he said. Even if some of it was nonsense. When the person talking sounds like even they don't believe what they're saying - then everybody ignores them.
I DO think Kubrick intentionally used techniques to psychologically unnerve the audience. The hotel's impossible floor plans/door hinges on opposite sides/objects shifting - were intentional. He built the maze, and then turned the hotel into one, as well. And maybe the American Indian genocide theories - Kubrick did use the Ahwahnee in Yosemite and its interior designs throughout his Overlook. I agreed with Bill Blakemore the first time I read his article.

The Kubrick film IS far superior, in every way.
