I liked the forward and reverse part.

The part where the punchy guy talked about playing the film forward, then having the film in reverse superimposed over the forward playing film at the same time was genuinely cool.

The overall film though was a fascinating yet occasionally goofy exploration of ultra obsessive fanboys and their fanwank. Don't regret watching it at all.

I enjoyed it too. I found it hilarious in parts. Just listening to these delusional people, with their honest conviction that they are geniuses for "figuring out" this stuff. I thought the backward thing was cool too. It would have been more enjoyable if they had found more stories in that vein.

I enjoyed the theories, even though some of them were clearly ridiculous.

The forward/backward part was also my favourite and I liked some of the cool effects that were revealed by it.

What killed me was that, at one point, forward must meet backwards and for one second the two would overlay perfectly. If there was any validity in the theory, then I would expect that moment to be really important... But they didn't even show it! I can only assume this is because it occured during a random, meaningless shot and there was nothing to be said about it.

Did anyone else think that?

We deal in lead.

speaking of the ridiculous.....the skier/minotaur or the desk boner...its a toss up

The desk boner. That's just someone wanting to see boners.

While the skier being a minotaur was clearly goofy, the concept that there's parallels between the story of Thesis and the Shining, I don't think is too far out there. After all, the whole maze wasn't in King's novel.

"That's just someone wanting to see boners" - I actually LOL'd to that one. Clearly, I'm not taking the right drugs while watching the Shining.

Desk boner was laughably bad; what made it even more absurd was the frame-by-frame build up leading up to absolutely nothing. The "Playgirl" shot had more validity than a paper tray -boner.

The minotaur theory has my support due to the presence of the labyrinth, Jack's heavy association with the labyrinth and the chase scene; the minotaur and the labyrinth is a well-known myth so I think that theory has some legs.

For me, all of the theories were entertaining because I took them for just that, theories. I've noticed a lot of people on the message boards for this film took it very seriously (no criticism...totally their right to view however they wish). Also this is not in reference to anything on this board, I am just noting.

I didn't get the significance of the backward/forward overlap other than it was pretty cool. Kindve like a dark side of the moon/wizard of oz coincidental deal. Would love to see the film in this capacity though! Looked very cool!

The bear scene is fully explained in the book.
