Minotaur

My goal now is to find a Minotaur in every movie.
If the only criteria is that it looks like the "Minotaur" she sees in the poster in the Shining, I'm golden. Oh shoot, I said golden...does that mean that I have a golden thread and now need to run backwards through a labyrinth to escape Jack the Minotaur?

reply

Yeah, that woman was a nut job. Some of the other theories in a weak moment I could run with, but the Minotaur ski poster just made me think, maybe all these people are insane :-)

reply

Ha, she totally was. I was fairly interested until she came on, then I also thought that they just may all be insane! Entertaingly insane ;)

reply

I didn't see the minotaur at all in the poster. Way too much of a stretch. I could see it being connected to the maze but not that damn poster!

reply

I could see it really clearly, and once I saw it - that was all I could see !

The theory is bogus, but the poster was interesting.

...and a pair of titties that make you wanna stand up and beg for buttermilk

Yeah, that lady was particularly over the edge. She's the one who took some unrelated thing her kid said and used it to substantiate her theories about the movie.

I can't help noticing that the user comment currently featured on the main page for this movie uses that fact as a criticism of the movie somehow. God people are dumb now.

Do you feel like Darth Vader?. .

I actually do think there's a minotaur theme; the ending chase scene particularly alludes to it. Minotaur and the labyrinth is a widely known myth. And the style in which Jack chases Danny is very reminiscent of the myth.

reply

Yeah, and Thesueus famously was the caretaker of a hotel in Colorado.

reply

NO need to be snarky. You clearly lack imagination. It's no wonder you can't pick up the themes.

reply

It was sarcasm, not snark.

I buy into the native theory, it's the only one with consistent imagery, but not all of it was mentioned in this, I don't think. Shelley Duvall's clothing and hair style is one.

What's more interesting to talk about are the hotel's inhabitants, whether they're real or part of Jack's psychosis.
