shareThe normal passage of time and the quickness of brain activity are not the same. For him, 0.4 seconds was perceived to be a day or two. Everything we saw he experienced in AR/VR.

Yes. Everything we saw happened within a 0.4 second span after the phone rang.
They took a traditional sci-fi liberty with time spans for this. In a lot of sci-fi stuff, they say that things happen much faster when you're dreaming (think of Inception), although in reality we actually dream in real time.
