I've seen a good amount of fights in my day and size has very little to do with it. Maybe if they were in a boxing ring with officiating it'd play a bigger role, but absolutely anything can happen in a live or death fight in the woods. This is just one of a million scenarios that could have played out, but one missed punch by the big guy and the kid could have tripped him. Kid grab rock. Rock hit head. Goodbye big pedophile.

but the fight already started in the worst way for the kid. he was being tackled by a bigger opponent and that usually spells big trouble. if you're smaller you need to stay on your feet.

Being bigger and stronger helps in a fight, but having a weapon helps more.
The skinny kid had a gun, which even without bullets can double as a pretty effective club. I assume he pistol-whipped the crap out of the other guy.
