Do you think that there were more "worlds" than San Junipero?
We know that they were able to change the eras but not the place... Were they able to choose from different virtual worlds also? Something like Terra chat rooms from the future. lol
I believe so. We aren't given this information definitively, but it makes sense. "San Junipero is a party town." Not everyone's going to want that. And given that San Junipero itself exists in several different eras, it's shown that the architects of this virtual reality are willing and able to make some very detail-oriented, varying "worlds."

Exactly. For example, I can picture this scenario where the user once dead decides to live in the cloud, in a nice suburb like forever and have their living relatives visiting every week.
Or... This living-teenage-user wanting to experiment Resident Evil's Raccoon City with their friends. Something more a la Playtest.
It would be interesting to watch other episodes linked to SJ.
All those locations would probably cost a lot. Might have to be a movie.

What I want to know is once they're dead and placed in the virtual world, are they stuck in that time period? Are Kelly and Yorkie forever stuck in 1987 or will time move forward?

I believe that there's a place (Kelly's house / Yorkie's dressing room-house) working as a neutral room. You know?
Right there you decide where to go, what era, what environment... or idk maybe even choose age and alternative aspect/looks.
The era is bound by the time they've been alive.
