Maybe I'm wrong but when Kris pulled out the pills upon sitting down with the guy I kind of assumed they were for an STD or maybe HIV. What other drugs would she think would push someone away if they were interested in her? Also was the "removal" of her cancer the parasite's doing? Or was it simply part of her past that she couldn't remember?

It was how she filled in the gap to herself. Jeff did something similar by believing he stole money on a drug trip when actually it was the thief who did it to him too.

Re the "cancer," it's clear that she never had it. She had damage to her reproductive system, caused by the worm, that resembled cancer surgery close enough that the doctors figured that's what happened. Notice that their first reaction is to be puzzled by what they've found, with a suggestion that something like that might have happened. By the next day or so, that's become a fact.
