video essay
I found a video essay about 'Upstream Color'. I would suggest seeing the film before viewing. I sure need to see it again. I got Walden out of the library and regaled a librarian about the movie, realizing that I still don't fully understand it.
An example, it was suggested that the Sampler and Thief were not working together, just unknowingly. That's not what Chris (or I) thought. I wondered how the Sampler knew where the victims were? I wonder if he ingested the worm himself as it provides a psychic link to the victims. Or did the Thief tell him who they were? Do the worms form from the soil the flower is planted in? You see the thief plucking them from there. Or does he plant worms in that soil? The more I think the more questions.
I guess I really need to buy the movie to really study at leisure. There are several interviews with Carruth about it on You Tube, and probably elsewhere. Regardless, a beautiful movie, and I'm also impressed by Carruth's music for it.
