This should've been nominated for Best Picture
It's the best film of the year in my opinion. What a shame.

shareTo me Steve Jobs will always be the alternate Steve Jobs film, it's not the one we should have gotten. I'm a fan of Boyle but he's not as well matched to the material as Fincher would have been, Fassbender is a great actor and does a good job but I don't believe he was as good a fit for the role as other actors would have been. It's a solid film that should have been great but for various reasons just isn't. It's lack of a picture nomination isn't surprising as it didn't live up to the hype in any way shape or form. It's a good HBO film but Fincher and a better cast lead would have made it great and cinematic.
shareIf there's something this film didn't want for, it was a better cast.
shareI really thought it should have at least have been a contender. Did Sorkin not even get nominated for his amazing screenplay? It's odd that both Boyle and Sorkin created a better product than when they won and didn't get nominated.
shareAbsolutely agree. I enjoyed it even more upon second watch. I even prefer this over The Social Network, I think.
shareI agree.
It's a stunningly good movie -- not because it's about Steve Jobs, but in spite of it.
The eternal questions of genius vs. pragmatism and forgiveness vs. revenge and good parent vs. good worker are presented evenly for the audience to decide.
I think critics just cannot forgive the movie for its eponymous character.
I agree. For sure nominated at least.
