Meg's Curtain Call
So why did the slave boy male ballet dancer get higher curtain call status than the actress playing Meg?

shareBecause he is Sergei Polunin, a big name in ballet, or at least a bigger name in ballet than Daisy Maywood is in theatre. I believe he was brought in especially for the albert hall shows.
Look, I'm sorry I called you an inanimate object earlier. I was angry.
Thank you. I didn't know who he was so I guess that answers my question.
Still, most curtain calls place the line-up in order of the importance of the character and Meg played a more prominant part than that of the slave boy- no matter who was dancing the part She should have come after.
That isn't necessarily true. Whenever there is a BIG name in the show, they get a curtain call close to the end. I can't remember who it was but it was a famous actor from movies and the stage in a production of carousel playing the star keeper, and he got the final bow. OOOH you know who it was? Eddie Bracken. Of course, not the lead but because he was such an awesome actor who paid his dues over the years, he got the final curtain call. I remember how offput I was by that but then I realized as to why.
It's all about "paying dues". And if you are a huge star in a performance, no matter how small your role, they acknowledge it greatly. Hope that sheds some light on the bows :)
I've waited too long, lost too much. Requiescat in Pace...
