Looks like they've done the same live broadcast thing with BILLY ELLIOT THE MUSICAL:

Well, Phantom is hardly the first Broadway show to recorded and commercially released. And technically speaking, this isn't exactly the same. Billy Elliot was a recording of the actual show at an actual performance. Phantom was recorded in a specially staged concert presentation.
