Why would there not be a 30th anniversary?
I asked around for auditions but got no answer.
I also got no answer in the end asking for a license to posts karaokes on YouTube from ths musical.

The won't be a 30th because the 25th JUST HAPPENED FIVE YEARS PRIOR!!!!
sharewhy can't they release the orinal stage play as the 30th anniversary...now that the movie has been done and out for a while.....throw a bone to the michael crawford/sarah brightman fans
shareI don't think they recorded it, shame as it is. Personally I think they should record every version and then decide upon its popularity if it should be put to disc or whatever.

It's very odd. You don't see more video recordings for musicals. There are many for opera and ballet.
Fathom Events regularly broadcasts live operas and ballets into movie theaters.
Yet they have never done this for musicals. I'm not sure why. It's very head scratching.
Don't you lay a hand on my Sasquatch!share

It is maddening is what it is. There are so many bootleg versions of this and many other musicals on You Tube that I would move Heaven and Earth to own on DVD {professionally recorded}, but it just is not possible.
Not that I don't appreciate so many peoples efforts, but they are so hard to see.

Most operas and ballets that are recorded and released are public domain. And operas themselves are not-for-profit. The recordings are generally underwritten by individual or wealthy donors. Broadway/West End/Theater is mostly for-profit, and the unions must agree to payments and fees before any real talk of filming can occur. Since for-profit ventures cannot receive donations, investing money for something like a recording would need to be done by a big-pocketed producer willing to lose the money, or a movie studio coming in and filming it (such as Universal for both Les Miz and Phantom's 25, and also the West End Billy Elliot and Miss Saigon; Sony recorded RENT). It's just much more costly thatn it is to record operas.
shareOf course they recorded it, But is only for the people working on the show for the cast etc
