The random seduction scene? Seemed very out of place and I'm not sure why the writers threw that in there.

didn't it happen on the anime as well? I can't remember.
If it didn't, I didn't find it that random at all. The female character states her motives: her child. She was searching for someone to help her and her daughter to survive. You'd be surprised what people will do to guarantee the safety of their own children no matter the circumstances.
