It HAD prospect for success

I wanted to like the film. What I liked was the beginning of the story and the Titans were very creepy. But it was like they made it in purpose to be different from the anime. I haven't read the manga but I did watch the anime. I don't know which one (the movie or the anime) was more reliable on the manga, but the film is a failure. The story and the characters were almost completely different from the anime. The personality of the characters and their beliefs or driving forces were briefly explained by the film. The editing was bad too. The visual effects around titans were convincing but around the ODMG equipment were not.

Conclusively, the film was disappointing except from the horror touch of the titans (and the creepy sounds they were making!). If the filmmakers were just rely on the anime (maybe on magna too) then it could be considered as a great modern horror movie!

The anime is a great cover of the manga, till ep 24 or so it includes no filler, and supposedly only changes the order of some stuff shown for the better of the viewer's experience.
They then added some filler to be able to finish on the cliffhanger on ep 25.

The film is on par with Mortal Kombat 2. It really is that bad.

Just wanted to repeat this sentiment:

"If the filmmakers were just rely on the anime (maybe on magna too) then it could be considered as a great modern horror movie! "

This is so very true. They had a great story and they ruined it. You can still watch the anime and read the manga however.

If you were paying attention and not too busy trolling, you would see that i was quoting the OP, KyrKyr.

Here's another quote from the OP:

"The story and the characters were almost completely different from the anime. The personality of the characters and their beliefs or driving forces were briefly explained by the film."

i myself feel sorry for anyone who watched the film first without seeing the anime, as it ruins a major plot twist.

You have not seen the anime, you have no credibility as to the authenticity of this movie. All you can do is (attempt) personal ad hominem attacks because you have nothing left to argue with.

^^^ calls people trolls for not licking the anime.
^^^ says people didn't watch the anime
^^^ says people are payed to talk good about the movie

Those are ad hominem attacks.

How I love the irony.

Those are accusations: you sound like a paid shill who has not watched the anime. 

Here you go for an accusation: you are an idiot 

I wouldn't mind the changes if they were well-integrated. It's inevitable that a movie would have to at least condense several things from a 26-episode show or a 70+ issue manga series. But the movie was just so rushed that it allowed for no time to get to know really any of the characters or soak in the atmosphere of the world it was representing.

For instance, the scene where the titans breach the wall and "presumably" kill Mikasa was set up nicely and all, but had a weak payoff and then just faded out. It's a mystery how Eren even managed to get out of there without being eaten because the titans just decided to disappear at the last second after tearing apart the church. Then it cuts to two years later... Okay? Stuff like that is what made it feel like a checklist of things to get done instead of an actual movie.

How does it feel to be deconstructed?
