Yes and no. This movie only covers episodes 1-8 of the anime. I assure you, what happens in the anime is not a laughable joke like the end of this movie. Everything is explained while still leaving plenty of mystery.
shareThe ending, starting from when Armin is about to be eaten by a Titan, is about as close to what actually happened in the Anime then anything else in the movie. In the Anime, no one witnessed Eren exploding out of the nape of the dead titan... if anyone saw, maybe Mikasa but it certainly wasn't a group show.
shareif you mean titan-eren, yes, and they actually modeled him after how he looked in the anime which is why he looked so weird compared to all the other titans.
