For those who didn't watch the anime *Spoilers*

The anime sucks. It drags its ass. The movie goes straight to the point. The movie also sucks... BUT it doesn't drag its ass.

There are better anime out there.

why do you post here so much if you don't really like either? I mean i understand the haters of the movie, but lovers of the anime despite how annoying they get. im not judging you im just legitimately curious.

i found both versions to be enjoyable, as you mention the show really drags, but im hoping the movie cuts of the anime will help that along.

Who said I didn't enjoy the movie? I did [for what it is], but I'm also realistic.

mostly because I'm bored. What about you?

There are some interesting elements to the Anime that I enjoy [the action sequences are pretty damn good], but other than that... I can't really enjoy the characters at all {I think they are way too bland] and the concept is somewhat washed out [if one stops to think about it, a society that lives under the fear of being attacked is not prepared to deal with an attack. Instead of everyone being trained to handle the situation in the name of the entire society and survival of the species - which would be nothing short of reasonable since they all believe they are the only ones that exist - only some are trained. Doesn't make much sense given the situation].

I never expect a cinematic rendition to be 1:1 as the source material. Quite on the contrary, I enjoy some artistic liberties. I love Lynchs' Dune version as an example, while others loathe it for not being accurate. Another example is 12 Monkeys, which I find to be way more entertaining than La Jetée [though I understand the concept of the original and respect it as it is].

I enjoy both the anime and the movie, so discussing it with other people makes sense.

>attack sequences

the fights were cool considering they weren't magically charged like shows with flying karate masters or magical powers, but for me it was all about the horror of watching the people being eaten. i love hopelessness.

Some call it dragging ass, some call it character and plot development.

To each their own...

reply

what plot development? Society is walled from the outside->is envaded->heroes appear. That can be done in one single episode

a lot of what the characters experience is more like "character confirmation" as opposed to character development, but yes, even when the show drags, it can be extremely well executed. Breaking Bad had a similar uniqueness to it.
