Throwing the Titan?

Ok so how on earth did that one soldier pick up and throw a Titan?

reply

How did they expect to tell the story by omitting Eren's mother?

reply

I just got done watching it and while I did enjoy it as a stand a lone it was pretty bad how much they ignored the source material it just doesn't make sense the story was there for them.

From the anime I've seen (season 1) it's said that when people have picked up body parts like limbs and stuff from Titans they've been very light. Makes no sense in a physical way but there you have it

reply

That was only when severed from the body, I don't think it applied to titans as a whole - fully intact and uninjured. I could be wrong.

reply

Titans, for their size, are actually very light and very fragile, despite their ability to regenerate, They're also practically hollow inside. This was explained in the anime and manga. People could even lift up Titan's whole limbs, despite the limbs being bigger than their bodies. I guess they never explained it in the movie because the anime and manga is so popular in Japan that practically everyone knows the physiology of a Titan.

reply

yeah, from what i remember they are filled with air and their massive parts can easily be lifted by humans, its mentioned multiple times that they are very light for their size
but still they vary a lot in both size and weight going from 3 meters to 60, so at 3 meters they probably wouldnt be much heavier than a normal person

unfortunately Japan is a lot more lenient with their realism than western cinema. like a cartoon, if someone in a japanese movie is just depicted as being naturally unbelievably strong, we are supposed to just accept it as a fact in the universe. it was later confirmed that it was this mans strength, not a lack of weight from the titan, as he managed to pull down an entire building just by hooking on to it and grounding himself, even while being shot with machine guns.

what makes it worse is that this is a world where food is scarce, especially meat, so this person just happens to have super human strength, and literally all people do is blink an eye at it then move on. even in the first film, i found this annoying.

i actually dont mind this sort of thing in anime, or even live action movies such as the godzilla franchise or whatever other japanese media i consume at any given time. my issue with it is that I feel attack on titan to be more of a grim dark, but even in the anime this can lead to me being disappointed with certain aspects.

its abotu the hopelessness to me. If i take a step back and think about it, I go into attack on titan with the wrong expectations, and set myself up for failure in all of its mediums.

the movie isn't good. Then again neither is the anime. There's some core things in the anime that don't make any bloody sense. It also drags a lot to the point of boredom. You take the fighting scenes and all we have is bland characters moaning all the time about nothing in particular.

The only decent thing it has is the rapid passed animation sequences. But the movie turned out more gory than the actual anime.
