By all means watch the movie if you want to, but understand that the story has been incredibly altered and all the best parts of the story have been removed. What is left is something along the lines of Mortal Kombat 2 ... silly fight scenes that do not look realistic.
The anime, however, is the perfect medium for this story. Rich colors, characters that evolve and a mystery that will keep you coming back for more.
If a lot of these reviews are true then this is very concerning for the new Godzilla if The Director ignored so much source material I am not confident he will know how to stay true to Godzilla.

In this case i would put full blame on the producers: Yûji Ishida and Genki Kawamura. It's their MOVIE. They got what they asked for from the people involved. They have nothing to do with the new Godzilla, but that still isn't saying much!
True but still if the effects are getting criticized as well I know that the director does have a say in a lot of how it's shot and that could be a concern as well.
