The game was over for him, he had already won, so the rule no longer applies.

The OP means because the game was over, it wouldn't have counted as interfering. The game, at that point, was not being played, and therefore, he should not have been disqualified for SPOILERS:

Considering that the rules weren't truly known to anyone but the caller he could arbitrarily change them and say that he broke a rule.
