If you liked this, or the original this was based on (the Asian "13 Beloved"), or other movies with this general premise (of which there's been at least half a dozen over the years, starting with "The Game" with Michael Douglas), check out "Chosen" on Crackle.com. I actually prefer "Chosen" to most of the others of this type.

I really like Fincher's The Game, seen it a few times, it's got a more of a Buddhist slant.

Yeah it's a little bit different in that the game in "The Game" is set up to actually help the person being targeted, to provide an experience that will hopefully elevate them in some way or allow them to evolve. All of these movies and shows with this general concept require some suspension of disbelief and entail some pretty contrived coincidences, but "Chosen" handles that aspect of it quite well. I liked "The Game", but for some reason "Chosen" sticks with me a bit more, perhaps because its darker. Not that I didn't like "13 Sins" (in part because I know one of the make-up/effects guys that worked on it), but it fell a little flat in comparison to "Chosen" and suggests certain aspects of the conspiracy that are pretty out there (particularly the pictures going back decades, long before modern day technology, which would fundamentally change the nature of the game).

Question how do I find Chosen? There's a lot of films with that title.

It's actually an original series on Crackle.com. If you've got a PS3 or PS4 or certain devices Crackle is an app that connects to them online. But, you can just go to Crackle.com and watch it as well. Season 3 was released just a couple of weeks ago. Each season has 6 episodes and they run about 20-something minutes each.

it is just very remotely connnected, but you might like "cry_wolf". it is not about a "game", but to me it has a similar feel to it.

Your sig, from Oldboy is actually quoting a famous line from the author Ella Wheeler Wilcox.

i know, but while the context of the original sets it into context to take it at face value, which i could not possibly could agree on, the context of oldboy makes it a bitter, ironic statement, which i totally can agree on. :D

Kind of like a lot of quotes by presidents like JFK who get credited for things some earlier author actually originally wrote, sure I get it. I just like to see credit where credit is due ;)

well i think the comparison does not really work, because for example in the JFK case the quote was cut down. taking "a man could be proud to say 'ich bin ein berliner'" being cut down to "ich bin ein berliner" as if he himself would be proud to be a citizen of germany's capitol is simply respectless and weird.

this is different. the qote has been taken an put into different context.

therefore i give credit for the person that took it and put it into said context. i don't give credit to the creator of the quote itself, because in it's original context it means nothing to me. it is the artistic process of the "abuse" of the quote that i owe admiration to.

it is a process that happens a lot in art. take banksy for example. i accredit "his use" of the "ronald mcdonald" figure, while not accrediting the creator of the figure itself, if you catch my drift.

Ya, I don't agree with you, because without the initial creation, the slight altered context wouldn't exist, so you have to acknowledge the original inspiration, it's important.

"Dirty Deeds" is a comedic version of this. Came out in 2005. Not great but pretty funny.
