Continuity errors & other nonsensical things (spoilers inside)

"If he fails to complete any of them, interfere in the game, or reveals the game, he will forfeit all the money"

In challenge 12 Elliot pulls the post out of the ground, meaning that he should of by rule standards, failed the challenge. Elliot should of failed and his brother who was the one who put the post back into the ground would continue on. But we find out in the next few scenes that Elliot actually passed challenge 12.

"I'm on my way home right now.Everything's been straightened out."

So we are also lead to believe that after Elliot kills Chilcoat that he is going to get away scott-free with everything he did. Even with Chilcoat cleaning up everything Elliot did, we can't really think that he was the only cop involved in the games. Whoever sets up these games knows what possible outcomes could happen and is watching the players at all times, they have so many people involved in this thing that if Elliot killed Chilcoat they would obviously put everything back onto Elliot's record.

Not only that but Elliot killed a cop, and evidence would prove that. The police are going to figure this out and hunt him down and Elliot will be put in jail for the rest of his life.

So Elliot saying that everything has been figured out makes no sense either.

I thought this was a pretty decent movie up until these things. I'm also surprised other people haven't mentioned these issues with the film.

"Elliot should of failed..." What language is that?

They can change the rules to their liking all they want, it is, "their" game after all. Besides, we never hear what the exact rules to challenge number 12 on the phone anyway. Simply that he's supposed to attach the clothesline wire. There was never mention of not being able to remove it.

In fact, they knew he was going to do it, hence why he was brother was there to rectify it.

Learn to follow simple details and you'll be okay.
