In this movie, the one who loses the arm does not actually do it himself, but he consents. With the logical assumption that he, too, is a contestant, he does so for the sake of the competition. SN- That chap truly is the ideal contestant in The Golden Toad's eyes; the quintessential d-bag. I'd love a sequel, beginning with he and HIS brother (the pee in the face bully, who was hit by the chair in the hospital) trying to complete Challenge 13. ;)
In "Saw", the guy did it to ESCAPE. Difference, and much more logical, truthfully.
Desperation is powerful. Perhaps the most powerful, as it is the easiest state of which to take advantage.
