for NOTHING???

His brother's dead, his father's dead, he did all of these terrible things and he's in no better a position than he was when he started (a far worse position with all the guilt he must feel and NOTHING to show for it)

He should have taken himself to the hospital to get stitched up, not even bothered going back to the crime scene, and tried to enjoy the millions as best he could. The deeds have already been done! It's so dumb for him to lose everything, as well as committing another murder!

Not for nothing. He was recapturing himself. Caging the monster that the Game loosed on the world.

If he'd walked with the money and a dead father and brother - he'd always have their blood on his hands. If he walks with nothing, but avenged (to the best of his ability) their deaths by killing the only real connection to the Game he knows, well... seems he can live with that.

I do have mixed feelings for the ending. Shooting the cop doesn't really solve anything. It isn't like he stopped the game or even slowed it down. The cop was just an employee cleaning up the mess. If He felt so high and mighty to take the cops life for being part of the game he should have killed himself.

On the other side I can see why he wouldn't want the blood money. So hard to know how I feel about it.

After all that he should've taken the money. At that point he deserved it. He didn't want his family dead yet due to the damn game he lost his brother. Blood money or not at least it would help pay the bills. Plus he did redeem himself like you said.
