Forgiveness is Great but Where was the Psychological Therapy?
The movie really needed a scene or two showing the professional psychological therapy received by the real Lomax as treatment for his profound PTSD. On screen, the Lomax character has hallucinations, attempts to murder a bill collection agent during an episode of psychosis, and is portrayed isolating himself from everyone or writhing around on the floor during breakdowns.
With no scene where he receives professional mental health treatment, the movie gives the impression his PTSD evaporated through a couple of superficial talks with his new wife and traveling to Asia for a confrontation-turned-kumbaya meeting with his former Japanese tormentor.
