SPOILER: The advanced, tiny, robotic video drones

SPOILER

Technology geeks and military weapons historians and aficionados will be delighted by the appearance two, advanced, miniature, flying video drones that are configured to look like a hummingbird for one and a black beetle.

I don't know if those kinds of miniature video drones truly exist yet. But I know that back in 2010, the local newspapers held articles about civilian and military research into miniaturized, flying drones for just that same purpose in the movie. But what the newspaper articles showed at the time were extremely primitive prototypes compared to what was depicted in the movie. The motors needed to be more powerful while being extremely lightweight. As expected a major research and development challenge was the power source, which would have to entail the invention of incredibly potent batteries of long duration and output while remaining unbelievably lightweight. The requirements seemed impossible but never rule out human ingenuity.

All I know is: I want one.

I haven't found any evidence for a bug drone as seen in the movie but the hummingbird drone is very real. This is a video from 2011 showing the prototype in action. I would bet that in the 5 years since 2011 they are in use now.
